Dr Jamie Goode – Chair (UK)
Jamie Goode is a London-based wine writer who is currently wine columnist with UK national newspaper The Sunday Express. He won the 2007 Glenfiddich Wine Writer of the year award, and contributes regularly to a range of publications including World of Fine Wine, Wine Business International, Wines and Vines, Sommelier Journal and Decanter. Jamie has authored two books, Wine Science (2006) and Authentic Wine (2011, co-authored with Sam Harrop MW). This is Jamie’s seventh year as a judge for NWC/Top 100.
Duncan Savage
Duncan Savage (SA)
Duncan left his day job for the ‘Pursuit of a Savage’ adventure. Previously the winemaker at Cape Point Vineyards he successfully  introduced his own label in 2011. Duncan’s goal is to produce rock-solid classic and elegant wines. His wines have been recognised both locally and internationally, with numerous 5 star ratings in both the Platter’s guide and Wine Magazine as well as several 90+ Wine Spectator ratings. This will be Duncan’s 7th year successfully judging for NWC/Top 100.

Ginette De Fleuriot CWM (SA)
Ginette de Fleuriot is a Cape Wine Master and is Marketing Manager for Vinimark Wine Company. She began her career in wine in Germany, working in wine retail, wine education and freelance journalism. A lecturer for the Cape Wine Academy, Ginette has also been a contributor to the Platter Wine Guide. She has served as a wine judge for Veritas, SAA Wine Selection panel, Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show, the Nederburg Auction Selection panel and the Best Value Wine Guide.

Treve Ring (Canada)

Treve Ring is a wine writer and editor for regional, national and international print and digital publications, as well as an in-demand wine judge and speaker. She is based on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, though is most often found on a plane or in a vineyard.  Treve is an established wine judge and panel chair in Canada, the United States and the U.K., and is a Key Judge and committee member of the Vancouver International Wine Festival.

Lizette Tolken (SA)

Lizette’s pure, honest and driven love for wine sparked her to leave the legal profession after 19 successful years. She qualified as a Cape Wine Master in 2012 and has been involved in wine education at all levels in South Africa for more than seven years. Lizette now works as Human Resources Manager at a prestigious winery in Stellenbosch. She regularly tastes internationally and locally and maintains a practical interest coaching and lecturing wine appreciation and related content.

Greg Sherwood MW (UK)
Greg Sherwood MW is a London based South African Master of Wine and Fine Wine Buyer at Handford Wines in South Kensington. He is a regular judge at the Decanter World Wine Awards, SA Top 100, Nederburg Wine Auction and WOSA World Sommelier Awards, and tastes hundreds of the world’s finest wines every week. Join Greg on a safari into wine – you might even spot a few unicorns! This is Greg’s seventh year as a judge for NWC/Top 100.

Matt Day



Matthew Day (SA)

Joburg-born Matt graduated with a degree in viticulture and oenology from Stellenbosch University in 2007. An internship at Meerlust was followed by harvests in the Barossa Valley, Napa and Bordeaux. He joined Klein Constantia as assistant winemaker in 2009, and assumed full responsibility for the cellar in 2012. His philosophy is ‘to keep it simple and allow the wine to express itself with as little intervention as possible’. In his spare time, he enjoys canoe polo, mountain biking, running and spending time with his baby daughter.
